I have learned that nothing but crappy rentals are available in Houston on a Wednesday morning. I did get another truck, but it’s a significant downgrade from what I had before. It looks decent from 20 feet, but it’s been treated as a work truck and it shows up close.
This one is rockin real gauges, cloth seats, a cheap infotainment system and almost no adjustability in the steering column or seats.
Yeah, I’m spoiled. I’ll admit that it’s nicer inside than my WRX (except the seats), but given the cost of the rental, I expect better. If not better, at least comfortable!

That stinks - what are you using the rental for?

They could have brought you a nissan frontier. So all in all it could be worse.

Ew. Enjoy the terrible throttle response in that! Bummer.

I like the chevy’s in general, they still make a nice truck. I have not driven the new F150's tho so I can’t compare
. I do hate it
when you get a rental that has obliviously
already had a hard life.

I am on contract in Houston. I drive to Houston from Baton Rouge every week and the rental is my daily transportation. I get a full size rental that gets upgraded, sometimes to something sporty, sometimes to an SUV, this time to a truck. If they’d have had something different that wasn’t a significant downgrade, I would have picked it.

Figures it would base and beaten then. It has a real screen though. If it doesn’t smell bad, it’s a win.
Would your company pay for a turo or is it under contract with the big rental companies?

I use the rental to get from Baton Rouge to Houston and then as my local transportation while I’m in Houston. We are doing monthly contracts. I’m guessing a Turo wouldn’t be available under the same terms.

The engine wasn’t too bad on the commute into the office. I just can’t get comfortable in the seat.

We have both at my work. The turning radius on the Chevy is bad compared to the Ford. I think the seats are better in the Ford as well. I can’t really compare apples to apples on the engines because the Chevys we have are V-8s and the Fords are V-6s. It seems like the transmission in the Ford doesn’t spend as much time hunting for the right gear at any given time as often. I prefer the ride in the Chevy, but our Chevys are 2wd versus 4wd in the Fords so that may play a role.
I definitely like all the storage cubbies in the Chevy. The cup holder design on both is terrible. The Chevy style is too small, but the little fingers in the Ford that keep the cup from tipping broke in less than a month.
